Welcome to Lancaster University - one of the UK's leading higher education institutions. Lancaster University was founded in 1964 and has an international reputation for excellence in research and teaching. It is one of only a handful of University's to have a collegiate structure and there are over 10,000 students studying here. All the University's academic departments, Colleges and study/recreational facilities are based on campus. At the heart of campus is Alexandra Square which provides a focus for the hustle and bustle of university life. The central administrative building (University House), the Students' Union offices, Bowland College residences, the Library, and various shops and banks can be found bordering the Square.
